98. Why Piecing Your Health Together Isn’t Working in Perimenopause

Don’t Miss An Episode!

Perimenopause isn’t the phase of life where more podcasts, Instagram advice, or short programs create lasting change. When hormones, stress tolerance, metabolism, sleep, and the nervous system are all shifting at once, information alone isn’t enough.

In this episode, I explain why piecemealing your health keeps you stuck in midlife and why strategy and ongoing guidance are the missing pieces for real symptom improvement.

You’ll learn:

  • Why consuming more health information often worsens confusion in perimenopause

  • How multiple systems shifting at once changes what actually works after 40

  • The difference between education and guidance and why it matters in midlife

  • Why The Perimenopause Method exists and who it’s designed to support

A Personal Note + Why This Follow-Up Matters

If you’re listening to this on Wednesday, February 18th, today happens to be my birthday — I’m 43. And I will be spending most of the day at a local spa getting a much needed massage, facial and some sauna time.

But I wanted to record this episode as a follow-up to a free class that I taught yesterday: The Real Reason You Feel ‘Off’ After 40 – And What Actually Helps

If you missed it, I’ll link the replay in the show notes.

The reason I wanted to record this follow-up episode is because after a class, a podcast or other free resource, the next question should be:

What do I do now?

Why Information Alone Isn’t Enough in Midlife

Because attending a class, following someone on Instagram, or consuming health content — even good content — usually isn’t enough in midlife.

Because information alone doesn’t give you personalized guidance.

Most women don’t need more information in midlife.

They need interpretation, prioritization, and ongoing guidance – because hormones, stress, sleep, metabolism, and nervous system health don’t operate in isolation.

What most women need is…

  • help quieting the noise out there and conflicting advice

  • help deciding what matters most to you as an individual b/c we’re not all the same

  • or support over time as your body and needs change

At a certain point, just continuing to collect information isn’t actually empowering.

It can keep you stuck – it’s why so many women do not see a dramatic improvement in their symptoms.

Not because you’re doing anything wrong but because information without context doesn’t lead to clarity.

What I want to talk about today is why piecing your health together like this often makes perimenopause harder than it needs to be.

The Problem With Piecing Your Health Together

There’s a lot of information out there but do you know how to prioritize it?

You may be learning about cortisol from one place, estrogen from another, thyroid somewhere else, minerals from a different account, and HRT advice from three different providers.

That information may not be wrong, but it’s disconnected and it doesn’t take into account your individual needs.

No one is helping you decide what actually deserves your energy.

So you end up doing too much, changing things too often, and never giving your body the consistency it needs to respond.

Why Midlife Feels So Different in Your Body

What makes this phase of life tricky is that multiple systems in your body are shifting at the same time.

  • Hormones are changing.
  • Stress tolerance is lower.
  • Sleep is lighter.
  • Metabolism is slowing down.
  • We’re losing muscle mass.
  • Our brain is changing.

Free education can be helpful. I spend a lot of time educating here, my email community, and social media channels.

But free education is meant to raise awareness, it doesn’t create results that you ultimately want to achieve..

Education doesn’t:

  • tell you what not to focus on
  • help you decide when to stop changing things
  • or hold you steady when progress feels slow

Most women need:

  • a plan tailored to them
  • accountability
  • and someone who can see the full picture and help you stay focused

That’s the part that’s missing when you’re piecing things together on your own.

The Difference Between Information and Strategy

This is the difference between consuming health content and actually being supported.

When Tonya and I look at someone’s case, we’re not just thinking:

  • This woman needs hormones
  • She needs to take XYZ supplements

We’re looking at a birds’ eye view:

  • stress load
  • sleep quality
  • nervous system capacity
  • your diet, digestion
  • lifestyle demands
  • what’s realistic for you in this phase of life

That bird’s-eye view matters (especially in midlife) because doing too much can be just as problematic as doing too little.

And most women nowadays are doing too much – without a clear strategy.

Why The Perimenopause Method Exists

This is why I created The Perimenopause Method . Not because women need more information or an inflated program, because they need structure.

It has helped hundreds of women

  • get a clear strategy
  • understanding what actually deserves their energy
  • and get support over time as their body and needs changed

It’s for women who are sick of guessing, done getting overwhelmed with all the free advice and no longer want to manage their health on their own.

If you’ve been feeling like:

  • you know a lot, but still don’t feel great
  • you’re doing more, but seeing less return
  • or you’re tired of trying to piece this together on your own

Signs You Need a Different Approach

It’s a sign that you need a different approach. A plan tailored to you, guidance from experts, and support as you navigate this season.

That’s where real change starts to happen and why our clients get results.

The Mindset Shift Around Investing in Health

There’s also something else I’ve noticed and I’m sharing this without judgment. Women are very willing to invest in things that help them feel put together:

  • hair
  • nails
  • skincare
  • clothes
  • fitness

And those things matter – I love that stuff too. Trust me.

But when it comes to health, especially deeper support, that’s often where hesitation shows up.

Not because women don’t value their health, but because they think they should be able to figure it out themselves.

But investing in your health is about deciding:
“I don’t want to manage this alone anymore.”
“I want clarity.”
“I want support over time, not quick fixes that aren’t sustainable.”

And that kind of support changes the experience of perimenopause entirely.

Your Next Step

So if you watched the class yesterday or you’ve been listening to this podcast, and you still feel like you’re piecing your health together on your own, The Perimenopause Method is your next step.

After working with hundreds of women in this phase of life, what I know for sure is:

Perimenopause does not resolve itself through tips and free advice online. It improves when someone is looking at your health as a whole and guiding you through it over time during a phase that feels anything but predictable.

Midlife health is not meant to be navigated alone; and you don’t need to keep spinning your wheels. Tonya and I have spent years doing this work.

Women come in confused, exhausted, and frustrated, and leave with clarity, symptom improvement, and confidence.

If you’re ready for that level of support, I’ll link to The Perimenopause Method in the show notes.

Claudia Petrilli is a Functional Health Coach, Integrative Nutrition Coach, and creator of The Perimenopause Method — a high-touch program helping ambitious women 40+ support their hormones, restore energy, mood, and feel good in their bodies again.

After years of struggling with debilitating periods, thyroid issues, a pituitary tumor, and a rocky start to perimenopause, Claudia knows exactly what it’s like to be dismissed by doctors and overwhelmed by conflicting advice. Her own healing journey led her to a functional health approach — and now she helps women cut through the noise, advocate for themselves, and finally feel like themselves again.

When she’s not deep in client labs or recording her podcast Perimenopause Simplified, you’ll find Claudia hanging at home with her partner Mike and their rescue pup, Dawson — the real star of the show.
