Easy Peasy Green Smoothie

During the warm months, I LOVE a green smoothie. And I know some of you hesitate to try them, cuz you think they’ll taste like spinach or kale.

I promise–they don’t.

So, why are green smoothies so great? They help you get your fill of fruits, veggies, and super foods. They’re refreshing, energizing and my favorite benefit–cleansing.

A green smoothie (with the right mix of greens and minimal fruit) really gets things moving in your system, for easier elimination. As in, it’ll keep you regular.

I dunno about you, but I HATE to get constipated and spent most of my childhood patiently waiting to poop, without any success. These days, I do my best to eat cleansing foods, not only to keep things moving, but to aid my liver in removing toxins.

Plus, you’ll get all sorts of vitamins, fiber, omega-3s, protein, and energy from this mix. Here’s my go-to recipe:


– 2 cups of raw organic spinach (I buy this pre-packaged)
– half of a frozen or fresh banana
– 1/2 cup frozen or fresh strawberries
– 1 cup dairy-free milk (look for ones with minimal additives, without carrageenan, and preferably organic)
– 2 tbsp raw almond or cashew butter
– 1-2 pitted dates (this adds some sweetness)


Add the ingredients in the order listed to a blender (or my favorite, Nutribullet) and start blending!

And just like that, you have a green (ish) smoothie.
