Easy Peasy Green Smoothie

During the warm months, I LOVE a green smoothie. And I know some of you like them, but say yours always come out tasting like, er, poo.

We’re going to fix that right now.

But first, why are green smoothies so great? They help you get your fill of fruits, veggies, and super foods. They’re refreshing, energizing and my favorite benefit–cleansing.

A green smoothie (with the right mix of greens and minimal fruit) really gets things moving in your system, for easier elimination. As in, it keeps you regular. I dunno about you, but I HATE to get constipated and spent most of my childhood patiently waiting to go, without any success. These days, I do my best to eat cleansing foods, not only to keep things moving, but to aid my liver in removing toxins.

Plus, you’ll get all sorts of vitamins, fiber, omega-3s, protein, and energy from this mix. Here’s my go-to recipe:

Ingredients

– 2 cups of raw organic spinach (I buy this pre-packaged)
– half of a frozen or fresh banana
– 1/2 cup frozen or fresh strawberries
– 1 cup unsweetened almond, cashew or light coconut milk (regular coconut milk might be too thick for this recipe)
– 2 tbsp almond butter (no sugar added)
– 1-2 pitted dates (this adds some sweetness)

Directions

Add the ingredients in the order listed to a blender (or my favorite, Nutribullet) and start blending!

And just like that, you have a green (ish) smoothie. Like this recipe? Sign up for my email list to get more delivered to your inbox!
